The plugin is a straightforward hotcorner utility that executes user-configured shell commands when the mouse enters screen corners. The code is simple, readable, and contains no obfuscation, network activity, or hidden persistence. The only risk is the inherent danger of running arbitrary commands, which is the intended and clearly documented functionality.

  • Commands are executed via `sh -c` with user privileges, but this is the core feature and commands are user-configured.
  • The `configure.sh` script sources a system file and uses a `commit` function that is not visible in the sample, but no malicious behavior is evident.
  • No input sanitization is performed on the command strings, but they are meant to be user-provided shell commands.
How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

🖱️ Omarchy Hotcorners

A highly polished, macOS-inspired Hotcorners plugin for the Omarchy Quickshell. Trigger your most-used commands and panels simply by flicking your mouse into the corners of your screen!

This plugin operates entirely in the background (as a headless service) with zero top-bar clutter, and includes a Native Omarchy settings GUI so you never have to edit JSON files manually.

✨ Features

  • Zero Clutter: Runs invisibly in the background. No icons added to your top bar.
  • Native GUI Setup: Comes with a built-in TUI settings menu that integrates perfectly with Omarchy.
  • macOS Presets: Instead of forcing you to memorize shell commands, the settings menu provides point-and-click presets for App Launcher, AI Assistant, Calendar, Screensaver, and more.
  • Customizable: Set your own trigger area hitbox (defaults to a safe 4x4 pixels) to prevent accidental triggers while keeping it easy to hit.
  • Detached Execution: Commands are executed safely outside the QML thread so they survive indefinitely (like long-running screensavers).

🚀 Default Layout

Out of the box, the plugin is mapped to mirror standard desktop workflows:

  • Top Left: Clipboard History (omarchy-menu-clipboard)
  • Top Right: Calendar & Notification Center (omarchy-shell shell toggle omarchy.clock)
  • Bottom Left: AI Assistant Quick Note (omarchy-shell shell toggle omarchy.agents)
  • Bottom Right: Start Screensaver (omarchy-launch-screensaver)

📦 Installation

To install the plugin from the official catalog (or GitHub), run this command in your terminal:

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/abhinav-singh-ts/omarchy-hotcorners

[!NOTE] Manual Step Required for the Settings Menu To enable the GUI settings app so it shows up in your App Launcher, you must copy the .desktop file into your local applications directory. Run this command after installing:

cp ~/.config/omarchy/plugins/abhinav.hotcorners/omarchy-hotcorners.desktop ~/.local/share/applications/

⚙️ Configuration

Once installed (and after running the manual copy step above):

  1. Open your Omarchy App Launcher (usually Super + Space).
  2. Search for Hotcorners Settings and hit Enter.
  3. Use the beautiful popup menu to map any corner to an existing preset, or type in your own custom bash command!

🗑️ Removal

To completely remove the plugin and its settings menu from your system:

omarchy plugin remove abhinav.hotcorners
rm ~/.local/share/applications/omarchy-hotcorners.desktop
