DayNight is a straightforward theme-toggle bar widget. It only lists/reads theme and wallpaper data and runs `omarchy theme list`/`omarchy theme set` through a bounded timeout helper, with input validation and no shell injection. No obfuscation, persistence, credential theft, or destructive commands were found.

How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

AI advisory only — automated analysis, not a security guarantee.

Install
$ omarchy plugin add https://github.com/RamenPacket84/DayNight --enable
Appearance #bar

DayNight

DayNight is an Omarchy bar plugin that toggles between one chosen light theme and one chosen dark theme, with an optional preferred wallpaper for each.

Requirements

  • Omarchy 4.0 or newer with shell plugin support.
  • Two installed Omarchy themes.

Installation

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/RamenPacket84/DayNight.git --enable

The widget is placed in the right section of the bar by default. Existing installations can be updated with:

omarchy plugin update andrewbacon.daynight

To remove the plugin and its bar entry:

omarchy plugin remove andrewbacon.daynight

Usage

  • Left-click the bar icon to switch to the opposite configured theme.
  • Right-click the icon to choose the light and dark themes.
  • Choose a preferred wallpaper below either theme, or leave it on Automatic to use Omarchy's normal theme wallpaper behavior.
  • Middle-click to refresh the installed-theme list and current-theme state.

The defaults are Catppuccin Latte for light and Tokyo Night for dark. Theme and wallpaper selections are stored in the widget's entry in ~/.config/omarchy/shell.json.

Wallpaper choices include bundled theme backgrounds, user theme backgrounds, and files in ~/.config/omarchy/backgrounds/<theme-slug>/. DayNight applies the theme first and the preferred wallpaper second. If that image has been removed, the theme still changes and keeps the wallpaper Omarchy selected. Discovery shows at most 256 readable images per theme and ignores files larger than 25 MiB.

IPC

omarchy-shell andrewbacon.daynight toggle # Switch themes
omarchy-shell shell summon andrewbacon.daynight # Open configuration
omarchy-shell shell hide andrewbacon.daynight # Close configuration
omarchy-shell andrewbacon.daynight configure # Open and refresh configuration
omarchy-shell andrewbacon.daynight refresh # Refresh theme and wallpaper lists

Development

Run the automated checks from the repository root:

bash tests/test_list_wallpapers.sh
bash tests/test_run_command.sh
node tests/test_model.js
qmllint Panel.qml
omarchy plugin validate .

Node.js is only required for the model tests, not to run the plugin.
