DeepL Translate for Omarchy

Translate text from an Omarchy bar panel using the DeepL Free API. The source language is detected automatically, and translations stay in the panel until the reset button is pressed.

Configure

  1. Create a DeepL API Free account and copy its authentication key.
  2. Click the 木 widget in the bar.
  3. Open the settings icon, enter the API key, choose a default target language, and save. The language selector refreshes from DeepL after the key is saved.

The API key and default target language are stored in Omarchy's ~/.config/omarchy/shell.json. Omarchy creates this file with mode 600. Requests are sent directly to https://api-free.deepl.com/v2/translate; the plugin has no runtime dependency beyond Omarchy/Quickshell.

Use

  • Click 木 to open or close the translation panel.
  • Choose a target language and type or paste text. Translation is automatic.
  • Use the copy button to place the result on the clipboard.
  • Use the reset button to clear the source text and translation.

The API logic lives in DeepL.js and can be tested without Quickshell:
