This is a legitimate system health monitoring plugin that reads CPU, memory, battery, and disk SMART data from standard Linux interfaces (/proc, /sys, sensors, UDisks2 D-Bus). The code is read-only, well-structured, and includes defensive bounds checking. The only deterministic finding is a `git clone` command in the README, which is standard documentation and not part of the executable code.

  • The deterministic scan flagged an external host reference in README.md, but this is a standard `git clone` installation instruction in documentation only, not executable code.
  • The Python helper reads from /proc, /sys, and D-Bus interfaces but performs no writes, no network access, and no destructive operations.
  • Code quality is high with proper bounds checking, timeouts, and output limits, suggesting careful development rather than malicious intent.
How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

System Health

A Task Manager style system monitor for the Omarchy Quickshell bar. CPU, memory, battery, and disk SMART health, all inside the bar, no separate GUI window.

Panel

Features

  • CPU usage, per-core load, frequency, governor, load average, temperature
  • Memory usage, swap, memory pressure, OOM kill count, top processes
  • Battery charge, health percentage, cycle count, capacity, power draw
  • Disk SMART health via UDisks2 (NVMe critical warnings, ATA failing/bad sector status)
  • Bar icon changes color when something needs attention

Bar icon

Requirements

  • Omarchy with Quickshell
  • Python 3
  • lm_sensors for CPU temperature (optional, install with omarchy pkg add lm_sensors)
  • udisks2 for disk SMART health (installed by default on most systems)

No root, sudo, or extra polkit rules needed. Disk SMART data is read through UDisks2's existing D-Bus interface.

Installation

Add it with the Omarchy plugin CLI:

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/DevInBlack001/omarchy-system-health --enable

Or manually: clone into your Omarchy plugins directory, then enable it.

git clone https://github.com/DevInBlack001/omarchy-system-health ~/.config/omarchy/plugins/devinblack001.sysinfo
omarchy plugin enable devinblack001.sysinfo right

Then reload the shell:

omarchy restart shell

Updating

Pull the latest changes for this plugin (or all git-managed plugins):

omarchy plugin update devinblack001.sysinfo
omarchy plugin update # update every installed git-managed plugin

Removing

omarchy plugin remove devinblack001.sysinfo

Then reload the shell:

omarchy restart shell

Usage

Click the chip icon in the bar to open the panel. It refreshes every 3 seconds while open, and every 20 seconds in the background.
