The plugin is a local QR generator that uses standard command-line tools (qrencode, wl-clipboard, zenity, zbar) and writes only to user-owned temporary directories. No malicious behavior, network access, or persistence was found. The deterministic scan found no issues, and manual review confirms the code is safe.

How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

Omarchy QR Generator

Generate private, verified QR codes from the Omarchy bar without sending your content to a website or API. QR Generator covers everyday QR tasks—links, Wi-Fi access, phone calls, email, SMS, contacts, and map locations—in one compact offline panel.

QR Generator open in the Omarchy bar

Features

  • Live QR previews for text, URLs, Wi-Fi credentials, phone calls, email, SMS, vCard contacts, and map coordinates
  • Automatic https:// normalization for bare web addresses
  • Correct Wi-Fi escaping with WPA, WEP, open, and hidden-network support
  • Standards-based tel:, mailto:, SMSTO:, vCard 3.0, and geo: payloads
  • Practical validation for phone numbers, email addresses, Wi-Fi credentials, and coordinate ranges
  • L, M, Q, and H error-correction levels with compact, standard, and large output scales
  • Independent round-trip verification with zbarimg when available
  • Copy as a PNG image or export through an explicit save dialog to PNG or SVG
  • Clipboard import with no history, analytics, account, API key, or background service

Requirements

The plugin uses these standard Arch packages:

  • qrencode — required QR renderer
  • wl-clipboard — required for clipboard import and image copying
  • zenity — required for PNG and SVG save dialogs
  • zbar — optional but recommended for round-trip decode verification

No elevated permissions are required by the plugin.

Install

Review the source, then install and enable it with Omarchy:

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/dlpwaters/omarchy-qr-generator.git --enable

The manifest places the widget in the center section by default. Move it at any time:

omarchy bar move dlpwaters.qr-generator --section left

Use

Click the QR icon in the bar, choose a content type, and enter the details. The preview updates locally after a short debounce. Use Copy image, Save PNG, or Save SVG when the verified preview is ready.

The URL form adds https:// when a scheme is omitted. Wi-Fi, email, SMS, contact, and location forms generate scanner-friendly standard payloads without changing the original fields.

IPC

omarchy-shell dlpwaters.qr-generator open
omarchy-shell dlpwaters.qr-generator toggle
omarchy-shell dlpwaters.qr-generator generate "https://omarchy.org"
omarchy-shell dlpwaters.qr-generator phone "+15558675309"
omarchy-shell dlpwaters.qr-generator showType Contact

Privacy and security

QR payloads never leave the machine. Temporary preview and verification files live in an owner-only directory under $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR and are replaced on each generation. The plugin writes outside that runtime directory only after you choose an export destination in the save dialog.

The plugin runs as your user inside omarchy-shell, like every Omarchy shell plugin. Review third-party plugin source before installation.

Update

omarchy plugin update dlpwaters.qr-generator --yes

Remove

omarchy plugin remove dlpwaters.qr-generator --yes

The plugin does not create services, startup entries, or persistent data. Removing it removes the plugin checkout; the runtime preview directory is temporary and disappears when the user session ends.

Validate

omarchy plugin validate .
