Omadoku is a self-contained offline Sudoku game with no network access, no install-time scripts, and no destructive operations. The only external process is a small Python helper that reads a state file with strict size/type checks, and the QML code writes state atomically to the user's state directory.

  • The plugin runs a Python helper (tools/read-state.py) to read the state file; the helper is defensive (O_NOFOLLOW, regular-file check, 64 KiB cap), but a human should confirm the file path derivation is acceptable.
  • State is written to $XDG_STATE_HOME/omadoku.json (or ~/.local/state/omadoku.json) and may contain saved game data; this is expected behavior and documented in the README.
  • The overlay grabs exclusive keyboard focus while open, which is normal for a full-screen game overlay but could briefly interfere with other shortcuts.
How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

Install
$ omarchy plugin add https://github.com/doctor/omadoku --enable
Widgets #bar #quickshell #games

Omadoku

An offline Sudoku game for Omarchy Shell. It provides a bar launcher and a full-screen, keyboard-friendly overlay with four difficulties, pencil marks, undo/redo, timer, mistakes, and persistent core statistics.

Install

Requires Omarchy 4 or newer with Omarchy Shell enabled. It uses the Quickshell and Python 3 runtimes included with Omarchy; Python is used only to safely load the small persistent state file.

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/doctor/omadoku.git --enable --yes

Add doctor.omadoku to a bar section using Omarchy's bar configuration. Click the ▦ icon to open it.

Remove

omarchy plugin remove doctor.omadoku --yes

Omadoku leaves saved games and statistics in your state directory. To remove those too, delete $XDG_STATE_HOME/omadoku.json or ~/.local/state/omadoku.json when XDG_STATE_HOME is unset.

Controls

  • Arrow keys or h/j/k/l: move
  • 1–9: enter a number or toggle a note
  • 0, Backspace, or Delete: clear
  • N: toggle notes mode
  • Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y: undo / redo
  • P: pause
  • Esc: save and close

State is stored atomically in $XDG_STATE_HOME/omadoku.json, falling back to ~/.local/state/omadoku.json. Omadoku uses no network services.
