Pill Bar

by fab

Omarchy bar with every widget rendered in a rounded pill on the dark strip. Layout, widgets, and plugins are untouched; add "pill": false to any widget entry in shell.json to opt it out.

The plugin is a QML bar replacement with no dangerous operations. It only reads configuration and loads custom modules from the user's config directory, with path traversal checks. No network, shell execution, or credential access is present.

How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

Pillbar

The bar, but pills.

A Omarchy shell bar replacement that renders every widget — built-in widgets and third-party plugin widgets alike — as a rounded pill floating on a fully transparent strip.

preview

What it does

  • Pills everything: each widget gets its own capsule background; the bar strip itself is never painted, so your wallpaper shows through between widgets.
  • Zero layout changes: your shell.json bar layout, widget order, center anchor, and installed plugins are used as-is.
  • Opt out per widget: add "pill": false to any widget entry in shell.json to leave that widget unpilled.
  • Everything else keeps working: drag-to-reorder, drag-to-move the bar edge, tooltips, panel popouts, tray pinning, multi-monitor, vertical bars, and the bar-off toggle all behave like the stock bar.

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/fillmefab4/Pillbar.git --enable

Restart the shell if the bar does not switch over immediately:

omarchy restart shell

Uninstall

omarchy plugin remove fab.pillbar

This restores the stock Omarchy bar.

Requirements

  • Omarchy Quattro (or newer) with the Quickshell-based shell.

How it works

Bar.qml replaces the stock bar surface: the layer-shell window is transparent (surfaceFormat.opaque: false, no strip color), and each module slot draws its own capsule via the shared BorderSurface styling. Widget loading, layout normalization, and inline-settings patching reuse the same semantics as the stock bar; the pure layout logic lives in BarModel.js.

Development

# Validate the manifest against the Omarchy plugin schema
omarchy plugin validate /path/to/fab.pillbar

# Run the BarModel.js unit tests (node)
node tests/bar-model.test.js

The plugin hot-reloads while editing under ~/.config/omarchy/plugins/fab.pillbar/.
