Vidi widget for Omarchy (Quattro)
A bar widget for Omarchy 4 "Quattro" showing the latest videos from vidi's subscription feed, plus a keyboard-navigable popup panel with the newest uploads.

Features
- Bar widget with an unread badge — how many videos have been published since you last checked the feed.
- Popup panel listing the newest videos (up to 30) with channel, duration, views and age, and thumbnails from vidi's preview cache when available.
- Click a video to play it directly in vidi (
vidi <url>deep-link, vidi ≥ 0.5.0) — browser, mpv or copy-link are also selectable per settings. - Shorts can be excluded from the list and the unread count.
- Light on resources: reads vidi's feed cache (
~/.cache/vidi/feed_cache.json) through ajqcompaction pass so the shell never parses the full file, refreshes every 5 minutes, and the unread counter survives restarts.
Requirements
| Dependency | Why |
|---|---|
| Omarchy 4.0 (Quattro) | the Quickshell plugin architecture |
| vidi ≥ 0.5.0 | feed cache + CLI deep-link |
| jq | compaction of the feed cache |
| python3 | descriptor-safe capped reads of the feed cache and unread state |
Install
The plugin is a plain git repo with a manifest.json, so it installs with Omarchy's own
plugin flow:
omarchy plugin add https://github.com/Fel-2/omarchy-vidi-plugin.git --enable
That clones it into ~/.config/omarchy/plugins/fel.vidi/, validates the manifest, and
enables it. Check it is live:
omarchy plugin list | grep vidi
Then add the widget to the bar:
omarchy plugin enable fel.vidi --section right
or drag the ▶ entry wherever you like it. You can also adjust the settings inline:
omarchy bar set fel.vidi maxItems 15
omarchy bar set fel.vidi openAction "MPV"
Remove
omarchy plugin remove fel.vidi
That disables the plugin first, then deletes the checkout at
~/.config/omarchy/plugins/fel.vidi/. The unread state it wrote lives in
~/.local/state/vidi-feed/seen.json and can be deleted too if you want a clean slate.
The built-in bar returns automatically.

Notes
- The widget only reads vidi's cache; refreshing happens inside vidi — open the Subscriptions screen there once before first use, and whenever you want fresh data.
- The unread counter persists across shell restarts
(
~/.local/state/vidi-feed/seen.json). - Validate the manifest after any change with
omarchy plugin validate .
