The plugin is a bar widget that launches a TUI and checks its presence via a fixed, bounded shell command. All user-configurable inputs are sanitized to prevent injection, and process execution uses argv arrays rather than shell strings. No dangerous operations, credential access, or persistence mechanisms were found.

How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

hey.food for Omarchy

hey.food in the Omarchy bar: launch or focus the heyfood dietary-safety terminal, check the CLI at a glance, and keep safe food answers one keystroke away.

  • Left click the bar glyph — a small popup shows whether the heyfood CLI is installed (and which version), with one action: open hey.food.
  • Right click — skip the popup and launch (or refocus) the hey.food terminal directly, as a styled Omarchy TUI window.
  • No CLI yet? The popup becomes an installation doorway instead of a dead end.

This widget deliberately renders no dietary data. Safety verdicts belong to the hey.food terminal and the service behind it — the bar is a doorway, never a verdict surface.

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/frntrllc/heyfood-omarchy.git --enable

Then add the hey.food widget to your bar from the Omarchy menu (Super + Space → Setup > Plugins), or place it in the bar: layout of ~/.config/omarchy/shell.json.

The widget is most useful with the heyfood CLI installed — see the heyfood install guide for the hosted installer (checksum- and version-verified) and the build-from-source option. The widget's popup links there too when the CLI is missing.

Requirements

  • Omarchy 4 (Quattro) — the Quickshell-based shell with the plugin system.
  • The heyfood CLI for the terminal experience itself (the widget installs and works without it, and will guide you to it).

Settings

Configurable from Setup > Plugins or the widget's entry in shell.json:

Key Default Meaning
glyph `` The bar glyph (any text or Nerd Font glyph)
command heyfood The executable launched in the Omarchy TUI window. A single executable token only — no arguments, whitespace, or shell operators; invalid values fall back to heyfood.

Scripting and keybindings

The widget answers shell IPC on the food.hey.tui target:

omarchy-shell shell summon food.hey.tui '{}' # open the popup
omarchy-shell shell hide food.hey.tui # close it
omarchy-shell ipc call food.hey.tui launch # open the hey.food terminal

A convenient Hyprland binding for the terminal itself:

bindd = SUPER SHIFT, F, hey.food, exec, omarchy-launch-or-focus-tui --app-id=food.hey.tui heyfood

Validate locally

omarchy plugin validate ~/.config/omarchy/plugins/food.hey.tui
qmllint -I "$OMARCHY_PATH/shell" BarWidget.qml Panel.qml

Qualification status

This plugin targets the Omarchy 4 shell contract and mirrors the structure of Omarchy's first-party bar-widget plugins. Treat releases before 1.0.0 as preview: attached-hardware qualification on stock Omarchy is tracked in the heyfood Linux/Omarchy release program and this README will state the qualified Omarchy version when that pass completes.

Remove

omarchy plugin remove food.hey.tui
