Bíblia em Português
A Bible reader for the Omarchy bar. Offline, no audio. Both the plugin's interface and the Bible text itself are in Brazilian Portuguese.
Plugin id: giuliano.canone.
Origin
This plugin is a fork of Canon by Ramen Packet (RamenPacket84), which reads the (English) Berean Standard Bible from the Omarchy bar. This fork keeps the same reading UI and navigation model, translates everything to Brazilian Portuguese, swaps in a Portuguese Bible translation, and adds new features on top:
- Verse selection and clipboard copy — click a verse to select and copy
it; click more verses to add them to the selection. The copied text
includes an extra reference line with the book abbreviation, chapter, and
verse (or a start–end range when multiple verses are selected), e.g.
Jo 3:16-18. - Flexible search — the search box accepts a reference (
jo 3:16), or falls back to a full-text search across every verse in the Bible when the input isn't a recognized reference and has at most 3 words, listing matches prefixed with their book/chapter/verse. - AI-assisted search — a query longer than 3 words is instead sent as a
prompt to whichever AI coding agent is configured as the system default
(
omarchy default agent), with a fixed instruction prepended that keeps answers scoped to Christian-faith topics and reputable sources.
Bible text and translation
The bundled text is João Ferreira de Almeida, in a public-domain edition
(pre-1911; the translator died in 1691, so the underlying work is out of
copyright under Brazilian law). It was converted from por-almeida.usfx.xml
in the seven1m/open-bibles
repository, which collects public-domain and freely-licensed Bible texts. No
network request is made at runtime — the converted copy ships locally in
data/almeida.json.
NVI and ARA (Almeida Revista e Atualizada) were deliberately not used: both are copyrighted commercial translations (Biblica and Sociedade Bíblica do Brasil, respectively) that restrict redistribution without written permission. See NOTICE.md (in Portuguese) for the full legal rationale and how to swap in a licensed translation later if you obtain permission.
Install (on this machine)

Usage
- Left-click the bar chip to open or close the reader.
- Scroll the chip to move to the previous or next chapter.
- Type a reference (
jo 3:16,salmos 23,1 joão 1) and press Enter. - Use the book button to browse Old/New Testament, then a chapter.
- If the typed text isn't a reference and has up to 3 words, it searches every verse in the Bible instead; click a result to jump to it.
- If it has more than 3 words, it's sent to the default AI agent (see above); with no default agent configured, a message is shown instead.
- Click a verse to select and copy it (and more verses to extend the selection); clicking the search box clears the selection.
- Esc closes the panel. The last verse read is saved to
~/.local/state/omarchy/settings/canone.json.
Remove
omarchy plugin remove giuliano.canone
The reading position in canone.json is left in place. This plugin is
independent of the original andrewbacon.canon: removing one does not
affect the other.
