This is a standard bar widget that displays and manages open application windows using Quickshell's public APIs. The code is straightforward, contains no obfuscation, and performs no risky operations such as executing commands, downloading files, or accessing sensitive data.

How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

AI advisory only — automated analysis, not a security guarantee.

Open apps

A bar widget for Omarchy Quattro that shows desktop icons for currently open applications.

This is a compact task list in the status bar, not a separate dock. Existing catalog docks and Alt-Tab overlays stay full-screen or pinned-app launchers; this widget only lists windows that are already open.

Open apps in the Omarchy bar

Features

  • One icon per running application, resolved from Freedesktop desktop entries
  • Focused app gets a small underline
  • Left click focuses the app, or cycles its windows if it already has focus
  • Right click opens a boxy preview menu: live window thumbnails, pick a window, or close
  • Middle click closes the focused window of that app
  • Hover shows the app name and window titles
  • Dialogs are hidden by default

Requirements

  • Omarchy Quattro (omarchy-shell / Quickshell)
  • No extra packages, services, or helper binaries

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/Bwest8/omarchy-open-apps.git --enable

Place it next to the system tray:

omarchy bar move io.github.bwest8.open-apps --before omarchy.tray

If you cloned the built-in tray as <username>.tray, use that id instead of omarchy.tray.

Usage

  • Left click — focus the app, or cycle its windows
  • Right click — preview windows, pick one, or close
  • Middle click — close the focused window of that app
  • Hover — app name and titles

Configure

Optional settings on the bar layout entry in ~/.config/omarchy/shell.json:

{
  "id": "io.github.bwest8.open-apps",
  "groupByApp": true,
  "showDialogs": false,
  "hiddenAppIds": []
}

Or from the CLI:

omarchy bar set io.github.bwest8.open-apps groupByApp true
omarchy bar set io.github.bwest8.open-apps showDialogs false
  • groupByApp — one icon per application (default true)
  • showDialogs — include transient dialog windows (default false)
  • hiddenAppIds — app ids to omit, such as ["org.omarchy.agent"]

Remove

omarchy plugin remove io.github.bwest8.open-apps
