Puzzle Maker for Omarchy
A compact, local-first puzzle-cipher workbench for the Omarchy Quattro bar. Click the puzzle icon, choose one of twenty tools, type or paste a message, and encode or decode without leaving the desktop.

Features
- Twenty encoders and decoders: Caesar, ROT13, Atbash, Vigenère, A1Z26, Morse, Bacon, Rail Fence, Affine, Playfair, Polybius, Columnar Transposition, Pigpen, Tap Code, Binary, Hex, Base64, Braille, Semaphore, and QWERTY Keyboard Shift
- Live output while you type
- Previous/next buttons and searchable native tool dropdown
- Per-tool keyword and numeric settings
- Encode/decode toggle, swap, clear, and clipboard actions
- Theme-aware native Omarchy panel
- No API keys, network requests, background services, data files, or standalone-app dependency
Requirements
- Omarchy Quattro with the current
omarchy-shellplugin system wl-copy, included by default with Omarchy, for the Copy button
The plugin runs unsandboxed inside omarchy-shell, like every Quattro shell plugin. Its source is intentionally small and has no third-party dependencies.
Install
Review the source, then add and enable it:
omarchy plugin add https://github.com/dlpwaters/omarchy-puzzlemaker.git --enable
The widget defaults to the right side of the bar. Move it if desired:
omarchy bar move io.github.dlpwaters.puzzlemaker --section right
Usage
- Click the puzzle icon in the bar.
- Choose a tool with the dropdown or the previous/next arrows.
- Select Encode or Decode.
- Enter any required keyword, shift, rails, or affine values.
- Type or paste into Input. The result updates immediately.
- Copy the result or swap it back into the input to reverse the operation.
Press Escape to close the panel. The panel follows the active Omarchy theme.
Cipher conventions
- Playfair merges I/J and leaves filler X characters visible after decoding.
- Polybius merges I/J; Tap Code shares C/K.
- Bacon uses the modern 26-letter five-bit variant.
- Columnar Transposition uses stable left-to-right ordering for duplicate keyword letters and no padding.
- Pigpen and Semaphore use copyable symbol/position notation in the compact panel.
- Binary, hexadecimal, and Base64 operate on UTF-8, including emoji and accented text.
- Braille uses uncontracted Grade 1 Unicode cells.
- Keyboard Shift uses wrapping US QWERTY rows.
Validate
omarchy plugin validate .
qmllint -I "$OMARCHY_PATH/shell" BarWidget.qml Panel.qml
node --test test/engine.test.mjs
Update
omarchy plugin update io.github.dlpwaters.puzzlemaker
