Aether Guard
Aether Guard is an Omarchy Quattro bar widget that checks a few local conditions before you run an Omarchy update. Its checks are read-only; it never starts an update automatically. An explicit panel button opens Omarchy's normal update flow after the user clicks it. It does not write configuration, install software, manage services, or contact the network.

It shows:
- the installed Omarchy version;
- whether an Omarchy update is available;
- whether
~/.config/omarchy/shell.jsonparses as version 1; - migrations that have not yet been recorded for this user;
- whether Snapper has a configuration for an update-time rollback point;
- a known initramfs warning in the current boot's update transcript;
- a legacy
OMARCHY_PATHinherited by the running shell; and - free space available on the home filesystem.
Requirements
- Omarchy Quattro (4.x or later)
- The built-in
findanddfcommands, supplied by the standard Arch base system
Install
Install from this repository after it is public:
omarchy plugin add https://github.com/eerengz/omarchy-plugin-aether-guard.git --enable
The widget is placed in the right side of the bar. Click it to open the report; middle-click it to refresh.
Remove
omarchy plugin remove io.github.eerengz.aether-guard
Removing the plugin only removes its own plugin directory and bar entry. Aether Guard does not create or modify any other files.
Privacy and safety
All checks are local and read-only. No information leaves the computer. The only action is an explicit user click that opens Omarchy's own update terminal; the source contains no installer, package-manager action, service management, remote download, executable binary, or external Git dependency.
Publishing checklist
The permanent ID is io.github.eerengz.aether-guard. Plugin IDs are public, global identifiers: keep it lowercase, globally unique, and outside the reserved omarchy.* namespace.
Submit it as category System with the tags system, quickshell, and security. The marketplace validates and verifies a specific commit; every later release needs its own full 40-character commit SHA validation.
