The plugin is a workspace manager that writes user config and generates Hyprland Lua rules; all actions are documented and user-initiated. The deterministic scan flagged a test file for escape sequences, but that is a legitimate test for proper escaping, not obfuscation. No malicious behavior, credential theft, or destructive commands were found.

  • The plugin can disable the stock workspace widget via a user setting, which is opt-in and reversible.
  • It writes files to ~/.config and ~/.local/state, but these are clearly documented and limited to its own data.
How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

Tile Manager

Named Hyprland workspaces with app assignments for the Omarchy Quattro bar.

Tile Manager on the Omarchy bar

The built-in omarchy.workspaces widget only shows numbers. Tile Manager names those spaces, parks apps on them, and takes you there when you launch an assigned app.

Requirements

  • Omarchy Quattro with the Quickshell plugin host
  • Hyprland (the compositor Omarchy already runs)

No extra packages. The plugin runs inside the existing omarchy-shell process. It does not start a second Quickshell instance and does not need root.

What it writes

Path Why
~/.config/omarchy/tile-manager.json Your names and app assignments
~/.local/state/omarchy/toggles/hypr/tile-manager.lua Generated window rules, loaded by Omarchy's existing Hyprland toggle directory
~/.local/state/omarchy/tile-manager.follow Windows currently tagged to follow you (per-session, pruned when they close)

It does not edit ~/.config/hypr/hyprland.lua. It does not change your bar unless you turn on Hide numbered workspaces in the panel.

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/jethrojones/tile-manager.git --enable

For a local checkout:

omarchy plugin add ~/projects/tile-manager --enable

Usage

  • The bar always shows workspaces 1–5. 6–10 appear only when that space exists or is focused, same as Omarchy's numbered widget.
  • The current workspace name uses the theme's selected-window outline color.
  • Click a name to switch to that workspace.
  • Middle-click a name to launch its assigned apps.
  • Right-click a name, or click the cog, to rename spaces and assign apps.
  • Assign focused window pins the window you are on.
  • Assign open windows parks each unique app on the workspace it is already using. Apps that roam, like terminals, are skipped.
  • Hide 1–0 workspace widget is in Settings at the bottom of the cog panel, and is off by default.
  • Follow focused window (Settings → Follow windows) tags the current window so it travels with you to every workspace you switch to, sitting in the layout without stealing focus. Tag as many windows as you like. Tags are cleared when the window closes or you log out.
  • Start assigned apps when the computer logs in opens assigned apps that are not already running, once per login session. It does not run when you enable the plugin. Use Launch assigned apps now to do the same immediately.
  • Press Escape to close the panel.

Assigned apps open on their workspace through generated Hyprland window rules. Follow launches (on by default) also switches you there. If the app is already running, omarchy-launch-or-focus jumps to it.

Remove

omarchy plugin remove io.github.jethrojones.tile-manager

Optional cleanup:

rm -f ~/.config/omarchy/tile-manager.json ~/.local/state/omarchy/toggles/hypr/tile-manager.lua ~/.local/state/omarchy/tile-manager.follow

If you hid the numbered widget and want it back:

omarchy plugin enable omarchy.workspaces --section left
