This is a simple bar-widget plugin that displays the current Star Trek stardate using a pure time-calculation algorithm. It has no access to sensitive data, performs no destructive actions, and contains no suspicious code patterns. The only user interaction is a left-click to copy the current stardate to the clipboard, which is a normal expected feature.

How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

AI advisory only — automated analysis, not a security guarantee.

This Plugin is perfect for you if...

  • ... you're in Starfleet
  • ... you think the LCARS interface is the peak of human-computer interaction.

Infos

What it is: An Omarchy bar-widget that shows the current Star Trek stardate in the top bar, right next to the clock.

Recommended

I highly Recommend using this plugin with my Star Trek: LCARS Theme.

Features

  • Live stardate, recomputed every minute
  • Left-click copies the stardate to the clipboard
  • Hover shows the matching Earth date and time
  • Decimal places are configurable

How it works

The stardate uses the classic Andreas Schmidt (2002) formula, with base 1.1.2323 00:00 = Stardate 0:

earthdate = year + (dayOfYear + h/24 + m/1440 + s/86400) / daysInYear
stardate  = 1000 × (earthdate − 2323)

Leap years count 366 days, so the stardate advances continuously across New Year's instead of resetting. Because of the 2323 base, current dates yield a negative stardate — that's correct per the original convention, not a bug.

Settings

Stardate is what you see: the label updates roughly every ~5 minutes with the default 2 decimal place. You can change decimals on the widget's entry in ~/.config/omarchy/shell.json:

{
  "id": "io.github.lioheimberg.stardate",
  "decimals": 2
}
decimals label visibly changes about every
0 ~9 hours
1 ~50 minutes
2 (default) ~5 minutes

Requirements

A standard Omarchy/Quickshell bar. The click-to-copy action needs wl-clipboard (wl-copy), which Omarchy ships by default.

Notes

[!NOTE] This Plugin is currently in an early stage of development. Don't expect everything to work perfectly and look good yet.
