This is a straightforward bar widget that invokes the user-installed Voxtype CLI and audio bridge to provide a hold-to-dictate button with a waveform. No obfuscation, persistence, credential access, or destructive actions were found; the code is transparent and matches its documented behavior.

How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

AI advisory only — automated analysis, not a security guarantee.

Voxtype Pulse

Voxtype Pulse is a theme-aware Omarchy bar widget for Voxtype. Hold its microphone button to dictate; while recording, the button opens into Voxtype's live microphone waveform. Release to transcribe into the application that already has keyboard focus.

Voxtype Pulse recording in the Omarchy bar

Design

  • Press and hold the bar button to run voxtype record start.
  • Release anywhere to run voxtype record stop.
  • A masked, transparent layer surface observes only the widget's pointer area and explicitly requests no keyboard focus.
  • The focused application therefore remains Voxtype's transcription target.
  • Recording state follows omarchy-voxtype-status.
  • Waveform samples come from Voxtype's official voxtype-audio-bridge.
  • Colors follow the active Omarchy theme.
  • Right-click opens Voxtype's configuration interface.

The visualizer is only present while recording. During transcription, the widget collapses to a compact processing state, then returns to its idle microphone icon.

Requirements

  • Omarchy with shell plugin support
  • Voxtype with its user service configured and running
  • voxtype-audio-bridge (included with current Voxtype packages)

Installation

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/majesticio/omarchy-voxtype-pulse-plugin.git --enable

Remove it with:

omarchy plugin remove io.github.majesticio.voxtype-pulse

Voxtype's own floating OSD remains independent. To use the bar waveform as its replacement, add this to ~/.config/voxtype/config.toml and restart voxtype.service:

[osd]
enabled = false

Re-enable the original popup at any time by changing the value to true.

Settings

The Omarchy bar editor exposes waveform width, waveform gain, and recording-timer visibility.

Development

omarchy plugin validate .
