This is a simple, read-only Hyprland bar widget that displays the active keybinding submap. It runs only a fixed, timeout-bound `hyprctl submap` query and sanitizes any submap name before display. No install-time scripts, persistence, privileged operations, or obfuscated code were found.

How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

Hyprland Submap Indicator

A minimal bar widget for the Omarchy Quattro shell. It displays the active Hyprland keybinding submap and disappears when Hyprland returns to the default keymap.

The widget listens to Hyprland IPC events, so it does not poll continuously. It performs one hyprctl submap query when loaded to synchronize its initial state. That query has a two-second deadline and a 256-byte output ceiling. Displayed submap names are length-limited, stripped of control characters, and escaped before reaching the shell's text and tooltip controls.

Requirements

  • Omarchy 4 (Quattro) with the Omarchy shell
  • Hyprland and hyprctl, both included with Omarchy

There are no external dependencies, background services, installers, or privileged commands.

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/poctek/omarchy-hyprland-submap-plugin.git --enable

The widget defaults to the left section of the bar. Move it if desired:

omarchy bar move io.github.poctek.hyprland-submap --section center

Usage

Enter any configured Hyprland submap. Its name appears in the bar and is removed automatically when the submap resets. No plugin configuration is required.

Remove

omarchy plugin remove io.github.poctek.hyprland-submap

Removal deletes only the installed plugin copy and its bar entry. The plugin does not modify Hyprland configuration or create other files.

Development

Validate a checkout against the installed Omarchy shell:

omarchy plugin validate .

For a live development copy, place or link the repository under ~/.config/omarchy/plugins/, rescan the shell, and enable the plugin by ID.
