OmaTick is a straightforward local checklist widget that reads and writes a JSON file under the user's XDG state directory. The only shell commands are a benign mkdir and a guarded cp for legacy note migration, both using quoted paths with no user input interpolation. No obfuscation, network access, persistence, or destructive behavior was found.

How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

AI advisory only — automated analysis, not a security guarantee.

OmaTick

OmaTick is a tiny checklist for the Omarchy Shell bar. It is meant for the small things that are too easy to forget and too small for a full task manager.

What it does

  • adds wrapping, multi-line notes from a compact bar popup;
  • checks notes off with one click;
  • deletes individual notes or clears every completed note;
  • follows the active Omarchy theme;
  • stores notes locally and works without a network connection;
  • exposes open, close, and toggle IPC actions for keybindings.

Notes are stored at $XDG_STATE_HOME/omatick/notes.json, or at ~/.local/state/omatick/notes.json when XDG_STATE_HOME is unset. Removing the plugin does not remove this file. On first launch, OmaTick copies notes from the former omanote/notes.json location when no OmaTick state file exists.

Install

Once this repository is published, install and enable it with:

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/sahzudin/omatick.git --enable

For local development, run these commands from the repository root to copy it into the user plugin directory, rescan it, and enable the widget:

mkdir -p ~/.config/omarchy/plugins/io.github.sahzudin.omatick
cp manifest.json BarWidget.qml Panel.qml NotesView.qml NotesModel.js \
  LICENSE README.md ~/.config/omarchy/plugins/io.github.sahzudin.omatick/
omarchy-shell shell rescanPlugins
omarchy plugin enable io.github.sahzudin.omatick

Click the checklist icon in the bar, type a note, then press Enter.

Remove

Disable and remove the plugin with:

omarchy plugin remove io.github.sahzudin.omatick

This preserves your notes. To remove them too, delete $XDG_STATE_HOME/omatick/notes.json, or ~/.local/state/omatick/notes.json when XDG_STATE_HOME is unset.

Optional keybinding

The widget can be toggled from the command line:

omarchy-shell shell toggle io.github.sahzudin.omatick

That command can be used in a personal Hyprland keybinding if keyboard-first access is preferred.

Development

Validate the plugin manifest before publishing:

omarchy plugin validate .

OmaTick targets the Omarchy Shell plugin API included with Omarchy 4.
