The plugin is a straightforward system monitor that reads standard Linux telemetry sources and launches btop on click. The deterministic scan found no issuesaine, and the code is transparent and non-destructive.

  • The plugin executes a bash script that reads system files and runs nvidia-smi, but these are standard read-only operations for a system monitor.
  • The plugin launches btop via a shell command, which is a documented user-facing feature and not a hidden action.
How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

What it does

  • Hover the bar icon to show the monitor balloon.
  • Updates CPU, memory, root-disk (/), network, and GPU telemetry every second while the balloon is visible.
  • Shows CPU/GPU usage and temperature, memory usage and used/total capacity, and root-disk usage and used/total capacity.
  • Detects Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA GPUs. Hybrid systems are displayed compactly, for example: intel|nvidia.
  • Shows NET only when an active default network route is available. ▼ is download and ▲ is upload; both values are live transfer rates sampled from the active interface.
  • Shows a network activity bar after sustained download traffic of at least 512 KiB/s; the percentage uses the active interface link speed when the system exposes it. Short, trivial page traffic does not show the bar.
  • Left-click the icon or balloon to open btop in Omarchy's floating, centered terminal window.
  • Right-click anywhere in the balloon to close it immediately.
  • Follows the active Omarchy theme automatically.

Compatibility and Deps

  • Omarchy >4.
  • Linux systems with standard /proc, /sys, df, and iproute2 telemetry sources.
  • NVIDIA utilization and temperature require nvidia-smi; the widget remains functional when it is unavailable.
  • Need btop installed to show full system monitor with left click.
  • No root access, external service, or second Quickshell instance is required.
