The plugin is a simple QML bar widget that fetches public US Treasury debt data via curl and displays a ticking counter. It performs no destructive actions, no persistence, and no credential handling; all external interactions are transparent and user-initiated. The deterministic scan found no issues, and manual review confirms the code is clean and safe.

How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

US Debt Clock — Omarchy plugin

A live-ticking US national debt counter for the Omarchy status bar.

Treasury only posts one official closing balance per business day — there is no true real-time feed for this (not even from us-debt-clock.com or similar sites). This plugin fetches the two most recent closing balances from the official U.S. Treasury Fiscal Data API ("Debt to the Penny"), derives the average daily increase between them, and projects the number forward every second from the last confirmed close — the same approach the well-known debt-clock sites use. The base figure refetches from Treasury every few hours; the displayed number itself ticks up continuously in between.

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/mudiam/omarchy-debt-clock --enable
omarchy bar put kmudiam.debt-clock --section right

Remove

omarchy plugin remove kmudiam.debt-clock --yes

This takes the widget off the bar and deletes the plugin's files from ~/.config/omarchy/plugins/; no other config is touched.

Behavior

  • Left-click: force an immediate refresh from Treasury.
  • Right-click: send a desktop notification with the as-of date and the current daily rate.
  • Middle-click: open usdebtclock.org for the full live dashboard.
  • Hovering shows a tooltip with the Treasury close date and daily rate.
  • Adapts to a vertical (left/right-positioned) bar by showing a compact $40.05 / T stacked form instead of the full figure, matching how the built-in clock widget handles its own vertical format.

Settings

  • refreshHours (default 6): how often to refetch from Treasury.
omarchy bar set kmudiam.debt-clock refreshHours 4
