Flagged patterns appear only in documentation files (README / docs) — descriptive examples, not executable code.

  • Docs sudo README.md:19

Command runs with sudo, elevating the process beyond the plugin environment.

    sudo pacman -S fcitx5 fcitx5-gtk fcitx5-qt base-devel pkgconf systemd-libs
  • Docs sudo README.md:52

Command runs with sudo, elevating the process beyond the plugin environment.

    sudo pacman -S fcitx5-configtool

The plugin is a legitimate Fcitx 5 input method indicator that communicates over D-Bus and compiles a small C helper. The deterministic scan flagged sudo commands in the README, but these are documentation-only instructions for installing system dependencies, not executed by the plugin. The code is transparent, non-obfuscated, and performs no destructive or hidden actions.

  • The README contains sudo pacman commands, but these are user-initiated dependency installs, not part of the plugin execution.
  • The build-and-run.sh script compiles a C file at runtime, but it uses standard compiler flags and only writes to the plugin directory; no elevated privileges or network access are used.
  • The C helper communicates with Fcitx over D-Bus and only reads/writes input method state; no credential access or persistence mechanisms are present.
How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

Fcitx Input Method Indicator

An Omarchy Quattro bar widget that displays the active Fcitx 5 input method and lets you prioritize, configure, and switch between methods in the active Fcitx group.

Requirements

  • Omarchy Quattro
  • An x86-64 system
  • Fcitx 5, running in the graphical session
  • A C compiler, pkgconf, and systemd-libs, used to build the included fcitx-state-monitor helper automatically when the plugin first loads
  • At least one input method configured in the active Fcitx group

Install the runtime dependencies from the Arch repositories:

sudo pacman -S fcitx5 fcitx5-gtk fcitx5-qt base-devel pkgconf systemd-libs

Install any input engines you want to use separately, then add them to the active Fcitx group. For example, Vietnamese Lotus is available from the AUR:

yay -S fcitx5-lotus-bin

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/nkarl/fcitx-active-input-lang.git --enable

Usage

  • Left-click the bar label to switch to the next prioritized input method.
  • Right-click the label to open the configuration panel.
  • In the panel, promote a method with ↑, remove a non-active method with −, edit its one-to-three-character label, or add another method from the active Fcitx group.

The active method is always first. Changes are saved to the widget entry in ~/.config/omarchy/shell.json.

Configure

Configure input methods and groups outside the plugin with Fcitx tools. The optional graphical configuration tool is available with:

sudo pacman -S fcitx5-configtool

After changing the active Fcitx group, reopen the plugin panel to refresh the available methods.

Remove

omarchy plugin remove nkarl.fcitx-active-input-lang
