The plugin's helper is a small, readable bash script that lists monitors, persists a user-selected output atomically, and toggles it via hyprctl; monitor names are strictly validated and state-file handling protects against symlink/FIFO attacks. The hyprctl eval/reload actions are the intended feature and are only triggered by explicit user interaction, with a safeguard against disabling the last active monitor.

How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

Monitor Handoff for Omarchy

Temporarily disconnect a selected monitor from Hyprland so the display can be switched to another computer, then reconnect it with one click.

Features

  • Left-click to choose a monitor from the displays detected by Hyprland.
  • Right-click the bar icon to disconnect or reconnect the selected monitor.
  • Persists the selected output in a shared state file watched by every bar instance.
  • Refuses to disconnect the last active monitor.
  • Restores the user's own resolution, refresh rate, position, and scale from monitors.lua.
  • Uses Hyprland's Lua runtime API introduced with the non-legacy configuration parser.

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/PedroSilvaAlves/omarchy-monitor-handoff --enable --yes
omarchy bar put pedrosilvaalves.monitor-handoff --before omarchy.clock

Left-click the new bar icon and select the display you want to hand off.

Remove

omarchy plugin remove pedrosilvaalves.monitor-handoff --yes

The saved monitor selection is harmless and can be left in place. To remove it too:

rm -f "${XDG_STATE_HOME:-$HOME/.local/state}/omarchy/monitor-handoff/monitor"

Requirements

  • Omarchy Shell with third-party bar-widget support
  • Hyprland using Lua configuration
  • bash, jq, and python (included with Omarchy)

How reconnecting works

Hyprland runtime Lua monitor rules accumulate. A later enabled rule does not reliably override an earlier disabled = true rule. Reconnecting therefore runs hyprctl reload, which removes the temporary rule and reapplies the user's existing ~/.config/hypr/monitors.lua configuration.
