The plugin is a straightforward QML bar widget that displays workspace window lists and focuses windows via Wayland activation or a properly quoted hyprctl dispatch fallback. It performs no network access, file writes, or persistence, and all user-controlled strings are rendered as plain text or safely quoted. No dangerous or malicious behavior was found.

How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

Workspace Peek for Omarchy

Workspace Peek upgrades Omarchy's built-in workspace numbers with a fast, interactive window list. Hover any workspace number to see its open windows, then click a window title to focus it—even when it lives on another workspace.

Features

  • Native Omarchy Shell popup styled by the active theme
  • Live window titles from Quickshell's Hyprland integration
  • Click a window row to focus it through its native Wayland handle
  • Active and urgent window indicators
  • Empty-workspace feedback
  • Supports horizontal and vertical bars
  • No polling, helper processes, configuration writes, or extra dependencies

Workspace Peek intentionally stays close to the stock workspace widget. It replaces omarchy.workspaces through Omarchy's supported clonedFrom mechanism, preserving the familiar numbered layout and click-to-switch behavior while adding the hover card.

Requirements

  • Omarchy 4.0 or newer with the Quickshell-based omarchy-shell
  • Hyprland and Quickshell as provided by Omarchy

There are no external package dependencies.

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/HazIQ-DevOps/omarchy-workspace-peek.git --enable
omarchy restart shell

The shell restart ensures Quickshell loads the new widget instead of a cached copy of the stock workspace component.

Use

  • Hover a workspace number to open its window list.
  • Move into the popup to keep it open.
  • Click a window title to focus that window.
  • Click a workspace number normally to switch to that workspace.

Remove

omarchy plugin remove propsuite.workspace-peek --yes
omarchy restart shell

Removing the plugin restores Omarchy's built-in workspace widget.

Security and privacy

Workspace Peek runs entirely inside omarchy-shell. It reads the workspace and window-title objects already exposed by Quickshell and invokes only:

  • the native Wayland toplevel activation method when a window is selected;
  • Omarchy's existing Hyprland focus dispatcher as a compatibility fallback.

It does not access the network, read arbitrary files, create background processes, request elevated privileges, or write user configuration.
