This is a legitimate bar-widget plugin that toggles the visibility of other bar widgets by editing the user's shell.json config file. The code is well-commented, handles parsing and errors carefully, and only modifies the intended keys (bar.layout, hiddenBarWidgets, plugins). No malicious behavior, obfuscation, or destructive actions were found.

How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

Bar Widgets

A small Omarchy bar-widget that lets you hide other bar widgets from a popup — not disable them, hide them. As you install more plugins the bar fills up; this gives you a toggle list to declutter it without touching any plugin's actual enabled state.

Screenshot

Features

  • Hide, not disable. A hidden widget's plugin stays enabled — its own config/state is untouched. It just drops out of the bar layout until you show it again, restored to the exact section and index it was hidden from (unlike omarchy plugin disable, which drops that position entirely and falls back to the manifest's default section on re-enable).
  • One list, both directions. Shows every currently visible widget plus every widget you've hidden, alphabetically, each with its own toggle.
  • Small centered popup, same layer-shell design as remco.idle-settings — a full-screen overlay with a compact card centered on screen, not a big window and not a popup anchored under the bar icon.
  • Survives the forced rebuild. Toggling a widget's bar-layout membership makes Omarchy's bar rebuild every widget on every monitor, including this popup's own instance, mid-click. This plugin reopens itself automatically after that rebuild so the popup doesn't visibly jump away.

Dependencies

None beyond Omarchy itself. No helper scripts, no external tools — reads and writes shell.json entirely through the shell's own shell.mutateShellConfig() API (the same one the built-in bar uses for things like toggling transparency), and reads widget display names from the bar's own widget registry.

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/r3mcos3/omarchy-bar-toggle.git --enable

Usage

Click the icon to open the popup, flip a toggle to hide or show that widget. Click outside the card or press Escape to close.

Configure

omarchy bar move remco.bar-toggle --section left # or:
omarchy bar move remco.bar-toggle --section center
omarchy bar move remco.bar-toggle --section right

Uninstall

omarchy plugin remove remco.bar-toggle

Uninstalling does not automatically re-show anything you'd hidden — if a widget is currently hidden, re-enable it from the popup (or edit hiddenBarWidgets out of shell.json by hand) before removing this plugin.
