The plugin is a benign system-monitoring bar widget: it reads /proc, queries optional local tools (sensors, nvidia-smi, lsblk), and makes unprivileged UDisks2 D-Bus calls for disk temperature. No install scripts, network access, persistence, obfuscation, or destructive operations were found. The deterministic scan correctly found no issues.

How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

Install
$ omarchy plugin add https://github.com/santiagoalmeida/omarchy-sysmon --enable
System #quickshell

omarchy-sysmon

A bar widget plugin for Omarchy showing live CPU usage in the bar, with a popup panel for CPU/GPU/RAM/storage usage and temperature.

bar pill

Features

  • Bar pill: current CPU usage %, turns red when any sensor runs hot
  • Popup panel:
    • CPU — usage, model name, temperature
    • GPU — usage, temperature, VRAM (NVIDIA only, via nvidia-smi)
    • Memory — RAM and swap usage
    • Storage — per-disk usage and temperature (via UDisks2/busctl, no root or smartmontools required)

All sampling comes from /proc, lsblk, sensors -j, and unprivileged UDisks2 D-Bus calls. The collector script is bundled with this plugin (bin/omarchy-sysmon-stats) — nothing to install separately.

Requirements

  • python3 (stdlib only, no extra packages)
  • lm_sensors for CPU temperature (optional — falls back to — if absent)
  • nvidia-smi for the GPU section (optional — GPU section is hidden without it)
  • util-linux (lsblk) and systemd (busctl) — present by default on Omarchy

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/santiagoalmeida/omarchy-sysmon.git --enable --yes

Or interactively:

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/santiagoalmeida/omarchy-sysmon.git

This clones the plugin into ~/.config/omarchy/plugins/santyalmeida.sysmon/. Review the code, then enable it:

omarchy plugin enable santyalmeida.sysmon

Move it around the bar like any other widget:

omarchy bar move santyalmeida.sysmon --section right

Update / remove

omarchy plugin update santyalmeida.sysmon
omarchy plugin remove santyalmeida.sysmon
