Flagged patterns appear only in documentation files (README / docs) — descriptive examples, not executable code.

  • Docs sudo README.md:10

The plugin is a font picker that writes a fontconfig rule and a generated font file under the user's home directory, scoped to the quickshell/omarchy-shell processes. The deterministic scan's 'sudo' finding is a false positive—the README explicitly states no sudo is required. The scripts include symlink and ownership checks, use safe file operations, and only modify their own files.

  • The plugin writes to ~/.config/fontconfig/conf.d and ~/.local/share/fonts, which could theoretically affect other applications, but the fontconfig rule is scoped to quickshell and omarchy-shell only.
  • The apply-font.sh script deletes files in its own font directory and removes its config on reset; these operations are limited to plugin-owned paths and include ownership/symlink checks.
How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

Install
$ omarchy plugin add https://github.com/skuthus/omarchy-shell-font --enable
Appearance #bar #quickshell

Shell Font

Pick the font family and weight used by the Omarchy Quickshell bar and shell UI.

Omarchy’s shell asks for monospace, and Qt ignores weight unless a family has one face. This plugin extracts the face you chose, writes a real OmarchyShellFont font file, and reapplies it when the shell starts so updates cannot reset the bar to JetBrains Mono.

Terminals are not changed. No extra packages. No sudo or pkexec is required.

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/skuthus/omarchy-shell-font.git --enable

Click Aa on the bar, or:

omarchy-shell shell toggle skuthus.shell-font

Usage

  • Type to filter fonts, j/k or arrows to move, Enter or click to select
  • Choose Regular, Medium, SemiBold, Bold, or ExtraBold
  • Apply writes the face and restarts the shell
  • Use system monospace restores the stock bar font

Settings are stored in ~/.config/omarchy/shell-font.json (created only after you apply a choice).

Remove

omarchy plugin remove skuthus.shell-font --yes
rm -f ~/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/50-omarchy-shell-font.conf
rm -rf ~/.local/share/fonts/omarchy-shell-font
rm -f ~/.config/omarchy/shell-font.json
