The plugin is a straightforward ClinicalTrials.gov search widget with bounded network requests, safe parameter handling, and strict output limits. It only opens registry-shaped NCT URLs in the browser and contains no install-time scripts, obfuscation, persistence, or credential access. The deterministic scan found no issues and manual review agrees.

How this check works

This review combines the deterministic scan (the rule-based results above) with an independent look at the plugin's code by a language model. The model reads a trimmed sample of the repository's files, the manifest, and the README, then gives a plain-language risk level and a recommendation: install (no notable danger), review (look closer first), or avoid (clearly dangerous).

It runs on the same analyzed commit as the deterministic scan and is strictly advisory — it is not a security guarantee and never blocks a plugin by itself. A human moderator still reviews plugins before they are listed.

clinical-trialchy

clinical-trialchy is a native Omarchy bar plugin for finding public study records from ClinicalTrials.gov. Search by condition, intervention, sponsor, or NCT number, then refine the live results by recruitment status and study phase.

The default “Recruiting” filter includes studies that are recruiting, not yet recruiting, enrolling by invitation, or active but no longer recruiting. Each result shows its NCT number, status, phase, countries, and whether results have been posted. Opening a result hands it to Omarchy's configured browser.

The plugin uses ClinicalTrials.gov API v2 directly and needs no API key. It does not write a cache, history, or analytics data, and clears the query and results whenever the panel closes. Queries are still sent to ClinicalTrials.gov, so do not enter patient names, record numbers, or other personal identifiers.

This is a discovery aid, not medical advice and not a substitute for discussing trial eligibility with a clinician or study team.

Omarchy integration

The widget uses Omarchy's native Panel, BarIconButton, KeyboardPanel, PanelHero, ButtonGroup, and theme tokens. Its clipboard-search mark is a monochrome Nerd Font glyph, so it follows the active bar foreground color and font instead of falling back to a colored emoji.

Runtime dependencies are curl and network access to clinicaltrials.gov.

Responses are bounded twice. The transfer itself is capped at 2 MiB outside the shell, and what survives parsing is capped again: at most the requested number of studies (10 at the most), a bounded number of phases and locations per study, and a display-length limit on every retained string. A misbehaving or hijacked endpoint therefore cannot grow the shell process or its layout work without bound.

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/yamz8/clinical-trialchy.git --enable

Omarchy clones the plugin, validates its manifest, and enables the bar widget. Review third-party plugin code before enabling it because plugins run inside the Omarchy shell with your user permissions.

Remove

omarchy plugin remove yamz8.clinical-trialchy

Use

  • Left-click the clipboard-search icon to open the finder.
  • Right-click it to open ClinicalTrials.gov.
  • Press Enter to search and then Enter again to open the selected study.
  • Press Up/Down to choose a result, Esc to close, or Tab to switch bar panels.

The bar editor exposes default status, default phase, and result-limit settings. For example:

omarchy bar set yamz8.clinical-trialchy defaultStatus all
omarchy bar set yamz8.clinical-trialchy defaultPhase PHASE3
omarchy bar set yamz8.clinical-trialchy resultLimit 8

Validate

omarchy plugin validate .
node --test tests/trials.test.mjs
/usr/lib/qt6/bin/qmlformat ClinicalTrialchy.qml >/dev/null
